Middle School

Developing Student Leaders and Expanding Opportunities

Middle school is a critical time for students as they begin exploring leadership roles, building independence, and strengthening social connections. Unified Champion Schools helps students channel that growth into meaningful opportunities that promote inclusion throughout their school communities.

Middle schools participate in Unified sports experiences, school-wide engagement activities, and student-led initiatives that encourage collaboration between students with and without intellectual disabilities. As students take on greater responsibility, they begin developing the leadership, communication, and advocacy skills that prepare them for future involvement in Unified Champion Schools at the high school level.

These experiences help students build confidence, create lasting friendships, and contribute to a school culture where everyone is valued and included.
