Preparing Future Leaders for Inclusive Communities

Colleges and universities serve as important partners in advancing inclusion beyond the K–12 setting. Through Unified sports, campus-wide engagement initiatives, research partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and service-learning experiences, students gain firsthand experience creating environments where all individuals can thrive.

Collegiate Unified Champion Schools provide opportunities for future educators, healthcare professionals, coaches, recreation specialists, and community leaders to engage directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities. These experiences help students develop practical skills, increase disability awareness, and foster a deeper understanding of inclusive practices.

In addition to supporting campus inclusion efforts, many colleges and universities partner with Special Olympics Idaho to host events, provide volunteers, conduct research, and expand opportunities for athletes and Unified participants throughout the state. By investing in inclusion today, colleges and universities help build stronger communities for tomorrow.
